Keesh’s weekly challenge

Every day or two I go and have a looksie on a real favourite blog of mine – Inkspirations by Makeesha Byl,  I have been following Keesh’s blog for the past 18 months or so. She is a super talented demonstrator who is passionate about stamping and family.

For the past few weeks, I have had a card on my mind, so it seems timely to have a go this week for Keesha’s challenge.  I hope you like it! The inspiration came from a Christian band – Delirious. The song is called Message of the Cross. So in my best singing voice, here goes… This is the message of the Cross, that we can be free.

Ive used Whisper White, Basic Gray and Baja Breeze cardstock (Page 126 and 127),  with Baja Breeze Designer Paper (Page 135), I have embossed the cross from Special Blessing (Page 47), used my 2-Way Glue Pen (Page 154) and Dazzling Diamonds (Page 145) to make my cross a bit more glam. The Easter Wishes stamp is from the US set Seasonal Wishes, I have borrowed from my friend Angie.  En Francis (Page 109) is stamped with Baja Breeze Ink (Page 126) and I have sponged the edges with Going Gray Ink (Page 127). Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon (Page 151) accents the card to finish it off. I have also pierced the Baja Breeze cardstock with my Mat Pack (Page 155). I have raised the different layers using Stampin Dimensionals (Page 154)

Thanks so much for coming by, please come back soon! Happy Stampin’ 🙂

Card 1 – A friend at school asked me yesterday to create a card for friends who just recently become engaged. As soon as she asked me, I knew what I wanted to do. This is the card I created. It is using the stamp set Friends 24-7 (Page 81), with Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip cardstock. I have used my very new Big Shot (which is going to be available for sale from 1 April in the new Autumn-Winter mini catalouge) as well as the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Perfect Polka Dots. The congratulations stamp is long retired, and I have borrowed it from my good friend Natalie, who got me into this very addictive hobby! I have punched 2, 5-Petal Flowers (Page 152) and seperated them with Stampin’ Dimensionals (Page 154), a felt flower, from Flower Fusion Too (Page 144) and a Rhinestone Brad from the Pretties Kit (Page 149). I have coloured my bird with my Markers (Page 128 &129).

Vanessa picked up the card this afternoon and absolutely loved it – I think she was blown away – which is always a great feeling! 🙂

Card 2 – I am always saying to my friend Jo who comes on a Monday night – to my “Open home’ – “You need to make 2 of everything, 1 to give away and 1 to keep as a record”. Today I actually followed my own advice! I had the perfect size piece of Baja Breeze Designer Series Paper (Page 135) lying around, so I thought I would use that. This card took longer to create, as I didn’t want it exactly the same as Vanessa’s card. The funny thing is though, I’m not sure which one I prefer? Do you have an opinion? Would love to hear from you 🙂

A crafty evening

Last night I sat down at my craft table and got to work.

The first card I worked on was Pretty Princess (Retired March ’09). I have made a few cards like this recently – one for a friends daughter who turned 4 (Sam) a few weels ago and one for a neighbour’s daughter who turned 7 (Emma) last week. I have used Versamark (Page 156), Gold Embossing Powder (Page 154) and of course the Heat Tool (Page 154). I embossed the pretty flower on the Pretty in Pink cardstock (Page 129), then the pretty princess on the Whisper White (Page 127) and the Happy Birthday on a piece of Basic Black cardstock (Page 127). I have coloured the wand, crown and flower centres with a Pretty in Pink Marker (Page 129), I snailed (Page 154) my princess onto Basic Black cardstock, I used my Scallop Edge Punch (Page 153) and my needle and Mat Pack (Page 155), I used the Scallop Circle (Page 153) to punch out the Happy Birthday. I raised both pieces of Basic Black with Stampin’ Dimensionals (Page 154). The card I have shown today will go into my ‘card stash box’ for any upcoming little Princesses birthday 🙂  The card itself is very basic – but I like it and so did the Mums of the girls. I think every little Princess should have a card like this on their birthday – don’t you! 🙂

Card 2 – I have a long term friend (Dotty) who has recently had her 6th child – Amelie (beautiful name), she is such an amazing Mum! Imagine having 6 children, in this day and age! I call her SUPER MUM! I think she deserves the title! She lives away from her family and friends at the moment, while her Hubby is completing 3 years at Bible College in Auckland, New Zealand.

Now to the card, the stamped image is Upsy Daisy (Page 75) I have stamped the image in Pretty in Pink ink (Page 129) and Daubered (Page 156) with Riding Hood Red ink (Page 126) around the top of the daisies, I used my 2 way glue (Page 154) to apply Dazzling Diamonds (Page 145). This idea comes from the talented Steph Pike  The Designer Series Paper is Raspberry Tart (Page 133), the cardstock is one of the current In colour’s, Pink Pirouette (Page 126) on Whisper White (Page 127). I have used the Scallop Edge Punch (Page 153) and Kiwi Kiss (another ‘In Colour’) Satin Ribbon (Page 151), I’ve attached the Ribbon with a Glue Dot (Page 154) and used Stampin’ Dimensionals (Page 154) to raise the different layers. I have sponged (Page 156) some of the layers with Riding Hood Red ink. It is pretty simple, but a pretty card for my dear friend Dot.

Card 3 – Simply Said Butterfly – this card is inspired by a ‘Splitcoast Stampers’ friend – barbara1976 – I have loved her work for a few years and we have become friends through our craft. I have used Simply Said (Page 51), to make the butterfly I have used my Stamp-a-ma-jig (Page 155), I’ve cut round the butterfly with my Paper Snips (Page 155) and raised it using Stampin’ Dimensionals (Page 154). I’ve used my Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink Markers (Page 129) to ‘paint’ my stamp, I breathed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and placed it on the Whisper White cardstock. I’ve used my Scallop Edge punch (Page 153) on the Whisper White (Page 127), and my needle and Mat Pack (Page 155), snailed (Page 154) onto Certainly Celery cardstock (Page 129) and snailed again on Whisper White.

Card 4 – Baroque Bird – A birthday card for my old school friend Kirstie, better get it posted – it’s got to get to NZ in 5 days.

This card was inspired by a card Nicki Tidbold  made. I have changed the colours and have not used as many stamp sets. The colours are Certainly Celery (Page 129), Old Olive (Page 128), Whisper White and Basic Black (Page 127). The stamp sets Ive used are En Francis (Page 109), Baroque Motifs (Page 94) and the all popular Sale-a-bration set Happy Moments. I have used my needle and Mat Pack (Page 155), the Word Window Punch (Page 153) and Stampin’ Dimensionals (Page 154) to raise the different layers.

So that was my crafty evening, very productive I think! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Another birthday

It’s my estranged Sister’s birthday on Saturday. The card is very basic! As I don’t know if she’ll even open it, or put it in the bin!?! Pretty enough to keep, if she opens it (I hope)!

I used the beautiful Sale-a-bration sets and the I (Heart) Hearts (for the big heart), Hamish chose the colour of the card.

Thanks for stopping by! Please come back soon 🙂

Happy Birthday and Anniversary

Tomorrow is my dear Husband’s 37th birthday and our 14th wedding anniversary. Normally I would make him 2 cards, one for each occasion, but as I am still suffering from ill health and I don’t feel very well, one will have to do!

I was out this morning getting my 4th lot of different antibiotics in as many weeks and I found a lovely Darrell Lea Milk Chocolate, shaped as a heart, at the chemist, so I thought I must get that! Gavin only likes to eat cold chocolate, so I have hidden it in my fridge! Then I thought to myself, I will have to use my new stamp set, I (Heart) Hearts from the current mini, which finishes at the end of the month. I tried rouching (spelling?) for the first time, with the lovely double sided Real Red Ribbon, also only available from the current mini. Ive used my 2 Way Glue and some Dazzling Diamonds and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

It was a very quick card, as I have a ‘helper’ at home with me today, Caitlin, she has also made a card using the same set and colours etc.

16/3/2010 – Hamish was home sick today, he has made a card, I have taken a photo of both cards. Hamish’s card is the one on the left, Cait’s is on the right. Both kids love to make cards, as much as me!

Thanks for stopping by! Please come back and visit again 🙂

How do you organise your crafting space?

I really had a good laugh to myself tonight! After creating a canvas over 24 hours, I went onto Facebook. Stampin’ Up! posed the question – How do you organise your crafting space?

So I just had to share my ‘crafting space’ with you!

Now that I have finished my canvas – I have to clean up tonight, before breakfast tomorrow!

Have a good night! Please come back soon! 🙂

Have you ever…

Have you ever found yourself thinking ‘I wish I could do …?’  But circumstances just don’t allow? Well that is how Ive been feeling all week – ‘I wish I could stamp!’

WELL finally last night I did! Well not exactly stamped, but have been working on something a little special, that I have been ‘thinking’ about for a while! A canvas! I continued late into the night, but wasn’t quite happy with where it was at. Today I finished it off, all be it with alot of fraustration, as my expectation of how things should go didn’t fall into place! Its taken all day and night, and I can’t say that I am totally happy with it, but it is on the wall!

I made the ‘frame’ with the Baja Breeze Designer Series Paper (from Page 135), the idea for the frame came from Julie Gis (who is on my blog roll). The letters are from On Board  Lots of Letters  (Page 147), the big flowers from the Pretties Kit (Page 149), the 5 Petal Flower Punch (Page 152), I (Heart) Hearts (from the current Summer Mini) Stamp set for the gorgeous heart on the top left hand side. The Full Heart Punch (Page 152), Sale-a-bration’s Vintage Labels Stamp Set for the cute frames at the bottom of the canvas. I have used my 2 Way Glue to apply Dazzling Diamonds on the top heart and flowers, Sticky Strip (Page 154) to stick the photos onto the canvas and finally to give it some lift, I used my Stampin’ Dimensionals (Page 154).

The photo is not the best – sorry! Thanks for stopping by! Please come back soon! 🙂
